Being an automotive enthusiasts who lives in the northeast every winter my pride and joy gets covered in salt grit and turns from a stunning black to a horrific mix of grey, brown, and white. Over the past winter i have developed several ways to keep my black beauty clean.

It all depends on the resources that are available to you.... If you have a heated garage or a garage and nice space heater then you can afford to get your hands wet. If you don't I recommend doing a "touch-less" car wash.

The "Touchless" car wash

Tools:

  1. Starting on the roof and move to the hood or trunk after completing the next step. Spray the correct mixture of Optimum No Rinse Car Wash liberally until the dirt has begun to move freely.
  2. Dry in a sweeping motion with the metro blaster sidekick pushing the grit and grime off of the body panel towards the ground.
  3. Continue to do the rest of the car one panel at a time.

This method is very affective, safe for your paint and keep your hands dry and warm...

The "In Garage" car wash

Tools:

  • Spray Bottle
  • Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine
  • Metro Blaster Sidekick
  • Two Sheep Skin wash mits
  • Old towels
  • The Grit Guard Insert
  • Two buckets
  1. Start by placing the old towels around the base of the car to keep the garage floor from getting too wet.
  2. Second fill one bucket with Optimum No Rinse Wash and place the Grit Guard at the bottom of the other bucket and fill it with clean water.
  3. Fill the spray bottle with Optimum No Rinse Wash mixture.
  4. Start by spraying the roof with the Optimum No Rinse wash and then take one Wash mitt and GENTLY wash the roof until clean.
  5. Place "dirty" mit in the clean water bucket.
  6. Take the other "clean" mitt and rewash roof.
  7. Always use the "dirty" mitt first then finish with the "clean" mitt.
  8. Dry roof with Metro Blaster Sidekick.
  9. Repeat steps for each body panel moving from top to bottom.

This will give the best wash but be careful to remove salt and sand gently with out scratching the paint.
